Special hand-painted Chrysler PT Cruiser

hand painted pt cruiser

We've all heard the PT Cruiser referred to as an empty canvas, but when New York City artist Mark T. Smith saw the PT Cruiser, he really did see an empty canvas. By the time he was finished with this blank space on four wheels, the Cruiser had become more than an American icon, it was a masterpiece in the true sense of the word.

From April 15-19, a special hand-painted Chrysler PT Cruiser was driven through 10 states along the eastern seaboard and auctioned off in Key West, Florida, to raise money and awareness for Operation Smile, a private, not-for-profit organization that has provided reconstructive facial surgery to tens of thousands of children and young adults around the world.

Called the "PT Cruiser Pilgrimage to Paradise by Mark T. Smith and Chrysler," this road trip brought together the artistry of the vehicle that's "too cool to categorize," and Smith, one of New York City's most prolific artists. Although Smith is known for his work, the star of the road trip was the unique Chrysler PT Cruiser, a rolling piece of art that is utterly colorful, audaciously abstract and totally one-of-a-kind. "This unique road trip is just like every Chrysler PT Cruiser we make -- stylish, fun and unique," said Jay Kuhnie, director of Chrysler/Jeep communica-tions. "The artistry of Mark T. Smith takes this particular Chrysler PT Cruiser to a new level of fun and creativity. And the best part is, proceeds from the auction will help Operation Smile continue to help afflicted children to do something most of us take for granted: smile".
